Aunt Terrie and Uncle Keith

Last week, Chris' Aunt Terrie and Uncle Keith came for a visit. It was my first time getting to meet them and they are really great people. They felt so comfortable to be around and it sounds weird to say "they felt like family" because they are family, but I'm sure you understand what I mean. Uncle Keith found a big snake when out trekking with James and they brought it home. It took us a lot of bribing to get him to release that snake back into the wild instead of keeping it at home with us. Anyway, it was a wonderful time and we are excited to spend more time with the Boyer side in the future.

Sarah laughing

We found out yesterday that Sarah thinks ripping paper is funny. Listen to her laugh! :) I love my baby!

NEW BLOG

I have started a new blog for all my scrapbooking creations... http://jillybeanbug.blogspot.com/ I just posted some pictures of the baby's nursery on it... Check it out.

LAN Party 5/19/09

I had invited our brothers over for a LAN party last night without Chris knowing. While he was playing softball, they came over to set up. I know it's nerdy, but I knew Chris would think it was fun (and actually, it looked kinda fun. Too bad I don't like computer games.) So Brendt, Ryan, and Eric brought over their computers and played games with Chris and James. James was so excited to be one of 'the guys'. The boys (except James who fell alseep) stayed up until 5:30 a.m.

James' New Word

James' newest word is "insane!" Everything is insane or sick (and both words mean awesome to him). Last night I asked James if he knew what insane meant. He said, "Yeah, it means totally hot, like burn-your-tongue hot!" And then he went on to quote a movie where a guy ate something and then breathed fire or something and said "those are insane." :) He never misses a beat. :)

Highlights of the Week

This week, Sarah had her 6-month well-baby check up. She is 16 lbs 10 oz, 25.5 inches long. Getting big! Sarah learned some new tricks this week. She can't crawl, but she is moving around. If I set her down on her back, you'll find her on her tummy facing the opposite direction. She can turn herself in circles pretty good. Also, she has started this week to play her own version of peek-a-boo and it is darling. Another thing I have noticed is that she can twist and twirl her tongue around in her mouth- which is only interesting to me because I never could curl my tongue. She has me beat at that already.

James had his last baseball game of the season today. Chris told the kids that he didn't care if they won or lost, that he just wanted them to have fun today. So he let the kids play any position they wanted. James asked to play first base. It was his first time playing first base and he did great! It was a little bittersweet. Although I was ready for the season to be over, I will miss it too... until next year.

Tonight is the American Cancer Society's relay for life event. Chris and I will be taking our turn to walk at 1:00 a.m. My sister is spending the night with our kids. Is it weird that I am excited because it feels like a date? Ok it is a little weird, but when you have little ones, any time alone is exciting.

Sarah starts swim lessons Monday through Infant Swim Resource. Having a pool can be scary. It doesn't take a totally negligent parent for an accident to happen, so we are trying to be proactive about pool safety and survival skills. A couple years ago, I saw a couple children that had been through this program and it was amazing. I am nervous and excited. Wish us luck!
